VHeadline.com: Domingo, 1º de diciembre de 2002 – Visto que la Fuerza Armada (FAN) quiere ley y orden en el país, la oposición está cometiendo un error al creer que al crear caos, desorden, muertos, etc., vamos a acudir en su ayuda. En efecto, la FAN está altamente irritada por los fantochadas de la oposición. No aprendieron las lecciones del 11 de Abril. El diputado de la Asamblea Nacional (AN) Henry Ramos Allup, presidente de Acción Democrática, entiende esto cuando afirma que “los oficiales en los cuarteles no quieren tener a los de Altamira como superiores”.

El 11 de abril muchos oficiales vieron con horror las fantochadas de Carmona y compañía. Hasta los oficiales conservadores estaban disgustados de ver a los “escuálidos” tratando de invadir la Embajada de Cuba, etc. He allí por qué pudimos lanzar el contragolpe: muchos, independientemente de sus preferencias personales, no estaban contentos con lo que veían (incluyendo la sed de venganza y sangre de la oposición). También cometieron el error de desafiar a algunos oficiales que no les gustaban o por cualquier razón. En pocas palabras, se volvieron demasiado grandes para sus botas.

El fallido golpe del 11 de abril nos ayudó de dos maneras:

1. Nos permitió identificar y neutralizar a los golpistas dentro de la FAN.
2. Nos permitió reforzar nuestras estructuras de poder. Por eso fue que Carmona y compañía nos hicieron la tarea. Hoy los golpistas están en la Plaza Francia (la Plaza Altamira, en el este de Caracas) o en puestos secundarios sin comando de tropa... No tendrán éxito si se llegan a mover... El control y la inteligencia son ahora más fuertes que antes de Carmona.

Algunos alegan que la FAN está “dividida”, que ya no apoya al gobierno, etc.

Si así fuera ya hubiera habido una confrontación o el bando contrario [al nuestro] hubiera respaldado a los oficiales de Altamira.

El hecho es que cuando los oficiales de Altamira se dieron cuenta de que nadie acudía a su llamado de respaldo, dijeron, para no perder la cara, que habían dicho que esos oficiales que los respaldaban debían permanecer en silencio y en la FAN... En pocas palabras, llaman a salir y luego llaman a permanecer en silencio y esperando instrucciones para “golpear” (contradicción).

¿Hay golpistas en la FAN hoy en día?

Quizás haya algunas almas perdidas no detectadas aún por la inteligencia militar.

¿Se moverán?

Me temo que no porque estarían aislados y serían fáciles de capturar apenas den el primer paso. Huelga decir que no tendrían hoy el apoyo necesario para dar un golpe.

La FAN respalda al presidente Chávez por cuatro razones principales:

1. Porque fue elegido democráticamente.
2. Como militar entiende a la FAN mejor que muchos otros.
3. A diferencia de la oposición que quiere llevar a cabo “reformas”, el presidente Chávez ha dejado al ejército tranquilo hasta que el fallido golpe de estado lo forzó a prestarle atención de cerca.
4. La lealtad de uno de nosotros (la formación militar)... la FAN no confía en la oposición, ni le gusta su modo de operar.

Finalmente, el Presidente de la República ve a la FAN como parte de la sociedad y no como una entidad separada de ella.

En mi opinión personal —dejando la política de lado por el momento— la FAN no debiera ser una sociedad masónica cerrada.

VHeadline.com: Sunday, December 1, 2002 -- Since the Venezuelan Armed Force (FAN) wants law and order in the country, the opposition is making a mistake thinking that by creating chaos, mayhem, deaths, etc., we are going to come to their aid. In fact, the FAN is highly irritated by the opposition’s antics. They have failed to learn the lessons of April 11. National Assembly (AN) deputy Henry Ramos Allup, the president of Accion Democratica, understands this when he states that “officers in the garrisons don’t want to have the Altamira ones as their superiors.”

On the April 11, many officers were horrified to see the antics of Carmona & Co. Even conservative officers were unhappy to see the ’escualidos’ trying to invade the Cuban Embassy, etc. That’s why we were able to launch the ’contragolpe’ (Counter-coup): many, regardless of their personal preferences, did not like what they saw (including the opposition’s thirst for revenge and blood). They also made the mistake of threatening certain officers they did not like for whatever reason. In short, they became too big for their boots.

The failed April 11 coup helped us in 2 ways:

1. it allowed us to identify the ’Golpistas’ (Coupsters) within the FAN and neutralize them
2. it allowed us to reinforce our power structures. That’s why Carmona & Co did the job for us. Today the ’Golpistas’ are in Plaza de Francia (an eastern section of Plaza Altamira) or in secondary posts with no command over troops ... if they move, they will not succeed ... control and intelligence is now stronger than it was before Carmona.

Some people claim that the FAN is “divided,” that it does not support the government, etc.

If that was the case, there would have been a confrontation by now or the other side would have supported the Altamira officers.

The fact is that when the Altamira officers realized that no one was going to come out to support their call, in order not to lose face, they said that the officers that support them should stay quiet and remain in the FAN ... in short, a call to come out and later a call to stay quiet awaiting instructions to “strike” (contradiction).

Are there ’golpistas’ in the FAN today? 

Maybe there are a few lost souls still undetected by military intelligence.

Will they make a move?

I’m afraid they will not because they would be isolated and easy to pick up once they take the first step ... needless to say, they would not today have the support necessary to carry out a coup d’etat.

The FAN supports President Chávez Frias for 4 main reasons: 

1. he was elected democratically
2. as a military man, he understand the FAN better than many others
3. unlike the opposition who want to carry out “reforms”, President Chávez has basically left the FAN alone until the failed coup d’etat forced him to pay a closer interest
4. loyalty to one of ours (military background) ... the FAN does not trust the opposition, nor does it like the way it operates.

Finally, the President of the Republic sees the FAN as part of society and not as an entity apart from it.

In my personal view ... leaving politics aside for a moment ... the FAN should not be a closed masonic society.
